As scant research based information is available regarding the work environment, empowerment and patient safety culture, this study aimed to investigate further the relationships between these three variables.

Why is it important?

The study provides nurses and hospital managers with useful information that may be utilised in nurse empowerment to create a positive working environment and improve the outcomes of nursing as well as patient care. Consolidating the results of studies from different country samples may help administrators and leaders to form a consensus, speak a common language and work together to formulate guidelines for a common patient safety culture that will prevail on a global basis.
