What is it about?

y This article focus in the fact that noble ethical goals occasionally can be defended with fallacious arguments. We found some recurrent fallacies in the way that leaders will appeal to certain ethical values as means to generate engagement among their personal. In short words, ethics can be misused in order to generate engagement.

Why is it important?

This is important mainly for three reasons first for an ethical reason, since engaging people using false premises can be in itself an action of dubious ethical value. Second, using fallacious arguments can be a source of conflicts which can be avoided. Third, it allows us to understand that certain ethical conflicts do not proceed from a disagreement in the values, but in the way that they are defended.

Perspectives

It is common to understand current conflicts in the health system as the result of power struggles or the confrontation between the values of irreconcilable paradigms. I prefer to look for deficient argumentation rather than abuses of power. By focusing in the argumentation process, I think I am opening the possibility to understand some conflicts as the result of a mistake, which can be corrected with rational arguments, by doing it I think I am opening the possibility of dialog among those who disagree.
