Why is it important?

At the time of the 2008 presidential campaign, pundits were wondering about the potential impact of this "name game." We offer evidence that, as we note in the title, "monikers matter."

Perspectives

We enjoyed writing this paper, and we were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to embed a simple but useful experimental manipulation within a nationally-representative public opinion survey.
