What is it about?
The study set out to find a causation between an increased cold ischemia time and a delayed graft failure; this was done by using a control group with a CIT of one hour and an experimental group of shipped kidneys with an approximate CIT of 10 hours. The study did not find a correlation between increased CIT and reduced graft or patient survival.

Why is it important?
Shipped kidneys could potentially be a valuable source of health kidneys for transplant; however, research has to be conducted to ensure that the longer than average cold ischemia time does not contribute to any health complications for the patient in the future.
