What is it about?
Tear trough deformity (TTD) is becoming a growing concern in younger populations, and we propose a two-dimensional fat injection method for the young-type TTD, the injection method involves releasing the ligament and increasing the insufficient volume of the tear trough, to yield a more seamless, natural-appearing, and long-lasting improvement in contour.

Why is it important?
For young-type TTD treatment, current injection approaches mainly focus on the augmentation of the depression but ignore releasing the tear trough ligament. Some patients do not respond well due to a lack of understanding of the anatomy and etiology of TTD by the practicing clinicians. Therefore, we designed the two-dimensional fat injection method.
Perspectives
This fat injection method presented in this study is a relatively safe and effective method for treating tear trough deformity in a young population. The procedure involves ligament releasing and fat injection on the tear trough region. Improvements were also observed with an improvement in dark circles and an enhanced aegyo-sal.
