What is it about?

This is a study of the multilingual advertising that is present on Thai news websites. Despite the fact that all of the news content is in Thai, many of the advertisements contain English that indexes symbolic values that are associated with English in Thailand.

Why is it important?

This is study builds on other pioneering Linguistic Landscape (LL) work in Thailand and is one of the early LL works to address online environments; it also presents a novel genre analysis of online advertisements.
