What is it about?

Persistent Mullerian duct syndrome (PMDS) is a rare disorder of sexual differentiation characterised by the persistence of Mullerian derivatives (fallopian tubes, uterus and the proximal vagina) in males with an XY karyotype and normal virilisation.

Why is it important?

In this case report, we aimed to present how to approach PMDS patient and what tests should be done.

Perspectives

Surgeons should not rule out one or both sided cryptorchidism associated with hernia and of the probability of PMDS, as was the case in the case presented herein.
