What is it about?
This paper proposes a state-feedback controller for a reluctance synchronous motor with current constraint prediction. The prediction was based on a non-linear flux-based motor model. The controller design and synthesis is based on a lumped-disturbance approach proposed by the Authors. The superior dynamic was obtained compared to a classical PI-based cascade control structure and a model predictive current control.

Why is it important?
The proposed control scheme improves the dynamic performance of the angular velocity control of a reluctance synchronous machine. It proposes an enhanced mathematical model of the flux-linkage model of the motor's electrical circuit, taking into account cross-coupling and saturation effects.
