What is it about?
The robustness analysis of a control system is important in the validation of the controller against disturbances. Fractional control has shown great advantages in aspects of robustness over classical integer control. This paper proposes a methodology for the quantitative robustness evaluation of Fractional and integer PID controllers employed in a DC motor against the presence of random noise and external disturbances.

Why is it important?
Our results demonstrate that the methodology proposed for the evaluation of the quantitative robustness of the fractional and integer controllers is novelty with respect to previously appreciated.
Perspectives
This paper opens the possibility of applying the fractional control to nonlinear systems (robotics systems) and to measure robust performance and stability in quantitative form using performance indices
