This paper shows how users react when they confront rumor verifications on Facebook. It offers insights into intriguing questions: Do users react differently when they see rumors being verified as true vs false? Does the reaction vary between rumors that offer hope vs those that strike panic?

As an extension to previous research that has looked at how people deal with rumors, this paper sheds light on how people deal with rumor verifications.
