What is it about?
This study examined how workplace factors—like workload, organisational culture, and decision-making autonomy—affect stress and job satisfaction among construction professionals. Using a systems-thinking approach, it found that these factors are deeply interconnected, often reinforcing each other in feedback loops. Heavy workload, poor culture, and limited autonomy were the most influential drivers of stress and dissatisfaction. The research also showed that job satisfaction can help reduce stress, but high stress strongly undermines satisfaction. These insights highlight the need for integrated interventions. Improving workload management, fostering supportive cultures, and empowering employees can significantly enhance well-being and performance in the construction industry.
