Why is it important?

Achievements and challenges of Vietnam's higher education accreditation system 12 years of development are explored. Moreover, recommendations for future policy-making and implementation of accreditation activities are proposed for all levels of this system: macro level (national accreditation organisation), meso level (accrediting agencies), and micro level (higher education institutions).

Perspectives

We hope that this paper makes policy-makers in Vietnam's higher education quality assurance and accreditation be aware of challenges facing the accreditation system and find the recommendations a good reference to make good policies. This article also contributes to the lack of literature in this field in developing countries in the Asia-Pacific in general and in Vietnam in particular.
