Do social media increases or reduces the formation of online ideological bubbles?

What is it about?

There is a growing concern about people isolating themselves in online ideological bubbles and avoiding contact with ideas that are different from their beliefs. We approach that problem by using Niklas Luhmann's sociological theory, in particular his concept of contingency, to analyze how people can experience more or less isolation in the digital space.
