What is it about?
The relevance of macroprudential policies designed to discipline depositors for MENA country banks has been less analyzed. We show that such discipline for MENA banks occurs primarily through deposit rates. During the crisis, depositors typically focus on a catch-all measure, such as bank profitability while exercising market discipline.
