What is it about?

This study looks at how hotels can serve as community spaces, not just places to stay. Focusing on a campus hotel, the researchers interviewed junior professors and hotel managers to understand whether a faculty club could support social connection and well-being. Many professors said they lacked peer support and would benefit from a space to meet others. Hotel managers also saw advantages in using existing hotel facilities for social groups. The study found that hotels can strengthen community ties, improve members’ well-being, and generate new business by hosting clubs and informal groups, such as sports or cooking communities.
