What is it about?

None of the tools facilitating virtual site visits assessed in the study (photos, floor plans, videos, 360-photos, 360-tours, and VR-optimized tours) have reached an adoption rate of 100% by convention facilities in the United States. The tools most used by convention facilities are floor plans and photos, both of which have entered the late majority stage of technology adoption. Also, the study demonstrates that 360-degree tours and standard videos have entered the early majority stage, and the use of VR-optimized tours is still in the early adoption stage. Furthermore, purpose-built convention facilities utilize significantly more tools to feature their amenities online than non-purpose-built facilities. The better fitting predictive models estimated a 50% adoption rate of 360-degree tools (photo and tours) to be achieved in about 3.12 – 4.67 years. When 360-degree tours were considered separately, the predicted time increased to 4.42 – 6.62 years.
