What is it about?

Our study examined how the benevolent leadership of top hotel leaders can enhance employees' work engagement amid COVID-19. We focused on two career-related resources: organizational career management (OCM) and individual career management (ICM). Surveying 600 employees across 20 Thai hotels, we discovered that benevolent leadership positively impacted work engagement, with OCM and ICM serving as the underlying explanations for the observed relationship. Interestingly, when ICM was perceived to be high, the influence OCM became less pronounced. This suggests that ICM can serve as a personal resource that buffers the adverse effect of the perceived lack of OCM. This study sheds light on the significance of leaders and career support in boosting engagement, challenging concerns that such support might prompt employees to seek opportunities elsewhere.
