Historically, Melvin Copeland’s (1924) Principles of Merchandising not only established the Commodity School of Marketing Thought, for which he has long been credited, but also anticipated the Marketing Management and Consumer Behavior Schools of Marketing Though for which he has seldom – if ever – been acknowledged.
