What is it about?

The paper discusses “Strategic Innovation” business theory in the field of heritage management. The focus is on a new approach that promotes local community empowerment and sustainable development: a living heritage approach. Contribution/originality of the paper: a) It can help business managers and consultants “think outside the box” towards living heritage, local communities and sustainable development; and possibly consider their own contribution – as well as responsibility – to this area; and b) It can heritage managers and consultants move beyond values-based approach, i.e. the current most prominent conservation approach, towards the living heritage approach.
