What is it about?
Previous research on the impact of coopetition on innovation performance has provided contradictory results. However, our findings verify the importance of coopetition for service innovation, regardless of the partners´ origin. Moreover, coopetition together with cooperation with customers additionally amplifies service innovation. To coopete in innovation is risky, but our findings reveal that partners develop novel services through coopetition intended to produce a higher return to compensate for the risks.
