Requirements and challenges of children’s genuine participation in the technology design context
What is it about?
We suggest a framework to be used when planning, implementing and analysing projects with children as participants, especially when there is an intention of genuine participation of children. We show with a retrospective analysis of our own project that there are challenges but also possibilities in this kind of working.
Why is it important?
While research shows an abundance of best practices and an idealized view on children and their participation in technology design, this study shows the multitude of challenges involved and discourses circulating around.
