What is it about?

This study examines the ongoing translations in the context of the China mobile wireless industry, which is facing the shift to 3G or 4G services, and investigates the decision taken by actors regarding the 4G policy and its developmental processes. This study also critically examines the adoption process for LTE TDD at a global level through ANT, and it closely scrutinizes the interrelationships between TD-SCDMA and LTE TDD to assess the policy successes and failures of 4G mobile networks.

Why is it important?

Findings identified the complex interaction between the social and technical aspects of fourth-generation (4G) by highlighting the co-evolving nature, diversity and interface that constitute the next-generation network environment.

Perspectives

The findings shed light on a critical insight of the interrelationships between TD-SCDMA and LTE TDD and identify the policy successes and failures of 4G mobile networks.
