What is it about?

For many of us, the internet has become an essential part of our daily life, enabling us to broadcast our thoughts, words, pictures, ideas and experiences around the planet ever faster and cheaper. However, Yemen has one of the lowest internet usage rates among world countries, and this hinders not only social, economic and political development, but lack of technology usage in organizations leads to low performance and low productivity. Therefore, this study has developed an integrated model between DeLone and McLean information systems success model (DMISM) and task-technology fit (TTF) to examine the relationship between user satisfaction, internet usage, task-technology fit and performance impact among employees within the public sector in Yemen in order to make recommendations to address this problem.

Why is it important?

This research article is significant because of six main reasons; context, topic, theoretical contribution, data analysis technique, data collection method, and practical implications. Firstly, Yemen is the context of this study which one of the developing countries that suffer from a lack of technology usage, and needs such scientific initiative to participate in its development. Secondly, the topic of Internet technology is vital and contemporary, and the internet is considered as one the most likely largest inventions of our generation, which significantly affect every side of our daily life and every facet of organization's operations. Thirdly, this study not only validated the DeLone and McLean information systems success model (DMISM) in the new context, it also integrated it with task-technology fit, moreover, this study deals with the performance as a second-order model to enhance the explanatory power of the full model. Fourthly, this study analyzes the data through the 2nd generation technique; covariance-based structural equation modeling (CB-SEM) which allow applying more sophisticated multivariate data analysis methods simultaneously. Fifthly, this study conducted based on primary data which collected through adequate sampling (508 employees within thirty government ministries). Sixthly, it is expected that key findings especially the proposed model will help in supporting government policy and national policies, if the government utilize these findings by setting up strategies to promote Internet usage, this may, in turn, improve professional practice, personal development, and quality of working life.
