What is it about?

B-spline based methods are attributed to impractical implementation when applied for numerical analysis of complexly shaped domains. This work presents a new class of B-spline based methods, based on local B-spline collocation, which is highly applicable for numerical analysis of such domains. We have applied successfully the method for transient heat conduction analyses of complex geometrical domains commonly found in industrial applications.

Why is it important?

We have developed a B-spline based method which avoids either coordinate transformation or mapping procedure in its construction. Most importantly, it is a truly mesh-less. Thus, it is simple, efficient and yet accurate.

Perspectives

This publication provides a convenient way to disseminate the ideas and interests in developing much more effective B-spline based methods for unstructured grids.
