This article compares different approaches to support the living wage in the UK. It compares social movement unionism and community campaigns. The research reaffirms the importance of both methods to achieve a living wage but also found the importance of strategic societal objectives to achieve a living wage.

This provided the opportunity for researchers on union campaigning for the living wage (Peter Prowse [Sheffield Hallam University] and Professor Ray Fells[University of Western Australia] to research with Dr. Ana Lopes, a researcher on community-led living wage campaigns [Newcastle University, UK].
