Why is it important?

The paper reveals the importance of social capital in the manufacturing industry by showing how its embodiment in buyer-supplier relationships may allow firms to better understand the context in which HPWS are more likely to be useful.

Perspectives

We need to further understand how the context in which firms operate affects the people management decision they made, as well as the impact of those decisions in other facets of firms management. This paper does so by looking at one key element of that environment: the network of relations with other firms.
