What is it about?

Many hospitals seek to reduce their environmental impact, but it’s unclear what motivates employees to adopt environmentally friendly work habits. We studied staff in public hospitals in the UAE and found that when organizations offer clear green goals, related rewards, fairness, and inclusive leadership, employees are more likely to act in sustainable ways. We find that healthcare managers can design better strategies to support sustainability by aligning practices with employees’ environmental values.
