What is it about?
This study explores how Mainland Chinese students in Hong Kong adapt to cultural and language differences. It finds that strong English competence, pride in their own culture, and connecting with Hong Kong’s culture all help their adjustment. Female and postgraduate students often adapt better academically, but postgraduates socialize less with peers from home. Universities can improve student support by boosting language training and encouraging flexible cultural blending. This research helps schools understand how to ease transitions for international students.
