What is it about?

Peter Drucker did not foresee fully business networks, but his (1) pragmatic and (2) evolutionary understanding of (3) relations between individuals in organizations allowed him to comment in an enlightening way about management and marketing. Analysing Drucker's works along these three lines opens research possibilities into business relationships and networks.

Why is it important?

Business networks are complex organizations that allow managers to foresee and implement new opportunities - networks are possibility organizations. Drucker's pragmatic and evolutionary perspective of relations (connections) offers new insights into the possibility of networks.

Perspectives

Studying Drucker's thoughts about the reality of management and looking for his underlying ontological beliefs opened new ways to think about how and why firms are successful when they act together.
