Why is it important?

We are all going to be old and be subject to the workings of the health- and elderly care system. We all probably also know someone that is elderly and want the best care possible for them. However, the population is living longer and getting older and more resources to them is unlikely to be provided. Hence, the most important solution to this problem is to enable the health- and elderly care system to be more effective and efficient. It is important to understand the main areas to improve the heath- and elderly care system. This study uncovers these areas.

Perspectives

This study was a part of a research project that aimed to involve the a broad range of health- and care professionals in system design activities. This enabled them and the researchers to get first hand experience of how and why different actors in the health- and elderly care act the way they do, and the effects of these actions. The research project is a good example of how long term research efforts successfully can be combined with more short term collaboration in terms of direct and local information sharing, problem identification, goal formation, and solution sharing.
