What is it about?

A need for collaboration across the business network through use of an open innovation platform for orchestrating dynamic signature capabilities in combination with ordinary capabilities is identified. Local distributed- and central leadership in knowledge creation are necessary ingredients.

Why is it important?

Research on dynamic capabilities are fragmented and not conducted on the business network level. Therefore a knowledge gap is present, which call for empirical research on ‘orchestration’ of dynamic capabilities in business networks to enable innovation for competitive advantage.

Perspectives

Competitive advantage in business networks are supported by the VRIS citeria instead of the VRIN criteria used in own organisation. The illustrative model developed from the research findings provide an overview of initiatives on orchestration of the extremes for competitive advantage.
