What is it about?

This work describes the ProLEED Studio software, which was built to provide simple, intuitive, and precise modeling of experimental electron diffraction patterns. The straightforward modeling process in the interactive graphical user interface (GUI) also makes the ProLEED studio ideal for educational purposes.

Why is it important?

Low-energy electron diffraction patterns contain precise information about the studied surface structure. However, retrieving the real space lattice periodicity from complex diffraction patterns is challenging. ProLEED Studio software and its interactive GUI allow real-time manipulation with any lattice points or diffraction spots and projection of experimental patterns, superlattice domains, unit cells, vectors, grids, and scale bars, and the possibility of exporting ready-to-publish images in bitmap or vector formats significantly simplifying the modeling process.

Perspectives

I decided to make this software when dealing with complex diffraction patterns. Now, the modeling process is much more effective, and its simplicity often surprises even me.
