What is it about?

Intra-abdominal cancers frequently spread out to form pertoneal seedings. It is very difficult to treat by usual intravenous chemotherapy. By surgical removal of these cancers, with intraperitoneal hyperthermic chemotherapy at the same time, we can improve the treatment results. This reference is expressing the experiences and results from our hospital.

Why is it important?

In Taiwan, Wan-Fang Hospital started to perform this procedure since 2002 and is the first hospital (and the only hospital) to do it. We continue to do it as a routine procedure till now. This reference address a milestone in Taiwan to reveal the result since 2002. It is also a representative result of CRS and HIPEC from Taiwan.

Perspectives

We accumulated the experience of this so-called "high complication rate" procedure and now becoming as an experienced hospital. We decreased the complication rate and even better than many other hospitals in the world. The patient numbers are increasing. We also developed many treatment strategies of tailored plan for every patient. We are still improving and we will keep the leading position in Taiwan.
