Why is it important?
Dry eye is a common condition with symptoms that can adversely affect quality of life for many. A single session of thermal pulsation proved to improve dry eye outcomes and had a similar impact to twice daily warm compress over 12 weeks. This positive result shows that thermal pulsation can be potentially used during clinical practice in the future.
Perspectives
Thermal pulsation improves dry eye symptoms, meibomian gland function and tear break up time. However, despite is benefits, its cost and affordability influences its impact on clinical practice around the world.
