What is it about?

This is a review I wrote recently where i described recent large scale studies which support earlier work , some from my lab, showing that mtDNA-copy number (CN) in blood shows an inverse correlation with chronic kidney disease (CKD), diabetic kidney disease, risk of mortality, CKD progression, cardiovascular disease, and poor outcomes .

Why is it important?

A blood test could be devised to measure mtDNA-CN to help people monitor their metabolic health. This would be especially useful for people with diabetes or CKD.

Perspectives

I really enjoyed writing this review as it helped me to see just how much evidence there is out there supporting my theory published decades ago . I would now like to see a blood test developed. Any tech companies out there that want to do this, pls get in touch....
