What is it about?

The work describes the database and the server LinkProt (http://linkprot.cent.uw.edu.pl), the linked structures it contains and possible application of the database and server.

Why is it important?

The database may be important in determining the relation between function and topology of protein. On the other hand, the server may be utilized in designing of new, topologically stabilized structures.

Perspectives

This is a unique application of topology (knot theory) to the proteins, allowing for distinguishing over 11.000 topologically different structures.
