Why is it important?

The increasing growth of neo-Pentecostal deliverance practices, with a corresponding shift, growth and popularity of prophetic activities, and pastor-prophets themselves, means the need to examine the phenomenon closely. The study reveals the authority that pastor-prophets assume in these deliverance practices and how the authority is derived. Clearly while pastor-prophets may be claim supernatural and ecclesiastical authority, it has become clear from the study that these forms of authority only find their meaning and practical manifestation within the context of deliverance seekers who actualize this pastor-prophet authority. Hence the article contributes to understanding the dynamics of interactions among pastor- prophets and deliverance seekers in neo-Pentecostal deliverance practices in Ghana
