What is it about?

We created a training program for therapists to improve their use of effective interventions. The training increased their confidence in using the effective interventions with their patients/clients and the therapists reporting using the interventions more often in their practice.

Why is it important?

Accessing quality mental health treatment is harder than ever. There are fewer therapists now than before the pandemic. Many therapists left the field due to burnout. Mental health training programs do not consistently teach therapists the best, most effective interventions. By teaching effective interventions to therapists, the quality of care improves, people get better faster which opens up more space for new patients/clients, and helps therapists feel good about their successes which can reduce burnout.

Perspectives

This project is near and dear to my heart. It is so important to make sure clients/patients are getting the most effective treatments. Training programs cover a lot of content but do not consistently teach case conceptualization skills, which evidenced-based treatments are most effective for presenting concerns, or how to identify which concern to start with. This training course is expanding therapists' skills in these areas. The more therapists that have these tools in their toolbox, the better the outcomes for our clients/patients. It is so rewarding to help clients/patients tackle their biggest challenges and come out on top.
