What is it about?
One of the important aspects of agricultural innovations is their adoption and active practice by farmers. In the article, I show that despite active efforts by international organizations, Azerbaijani farmers are slow to embrace and practice best agricultural practices. This happens because of both socio-economic environment in Azerbaijan, and individual characteristics of the local farmers.

This publication provides an opportunity to engage a debate about the potential of agriculture to serve as a pillar of non-oil economy in Azerbaijan to combat Dutch disease. The article also gives an opportunity to assess Azerbaijani agriculture's role as a launch-pad for capitalist development
