What is it about?
Images of people with disabilities are never used to illustrate the creation narrative in Catholic religious education textbooks in France. Instead, all illustrations suggest “beauty and perfection” according to our Western contemporary standards. However, there is no biblical reason to assume disability was not present in “the Garden of Eden.” The author explores biblical, theological, and catechetical arguments in favor of representing people with disabilities to illustrate the creation account.

Why is it important?
The way we imagine God's Creation, has an impact on how we consider the world we live in. If disability was not there in the beginning, then why should we not eliminate people with disabilities from our world ?
