Why is it important?
Counseling social justice and cultural competencies are adapted to assist correctional counselors in wading through the challenges of helping inmates deal with mental health issues.
Perspectives
Not enough attention is given to the mental health needs of the incarcerated population. This article helps to fill that need and provide prison counselors with hands-on examples of how they can become advocates for increased mental health services in the prison environment.
