What is it about?

The percent of girls who choose to major in science, technology, engineering, and math continues to remain low. Our study shows that there are initially no differences between the career choices of boys and girls but that these differences start to emerge the older the students get.

Why is it important?

Our findings suggest that the lack of interest shown by girls in engineering and math develops overtime, thus indicating that society plays a role in pushing girls away from these fields.

Perspectives

I hope that this article shed light on a problem that seems to be plaguing many countries, and that is that girls are being discouraged to join technical fields even if they are capable of performing as well as boys in this fields.
