What is it about?

In this study, the complete genome of a Klebsiella pneumoniae multi drug resistant (MDR) strain isolated in a Syrian patient has been analysed. We have applied a sophisticate tools to make a phylogenetic analysis with the aim to better understand the origin (country of origin) of the bacteria. We aso wanted to demonstrate how molecula epidemiology and phylogeny are essential tools for improving the microbiological surveillance of MDR strains.

Why is it important?

The article is fundamental in terms of migrants and Public Health because demonstrate the path of the bacteria through different country , where ( in which country) the bacteria infected the patients. this is an important application of genomic epidemiology to the surveillance system

Perspectives

to apply a molecular sentinel surveillance system to determine the healthy status of migrants even in cases where there is carriage of microorganisms, and support an effective strategy for disease prevention.
