Why is it important?
It shines light on the importance of avoiding unncessary testing to minimize patient harm.
Perspectives
I think it is very important for providers to be mindful of all the potential consequences of ordering uncessary tests and not considering the likelihood of this test to make a different in patient management and outcome. Many reasons exist for this phenomenon but we need to work on finding ways on how to help physicians avoid overtesting.
