What is it about?

This paper provides a summary about the existing research on the topic of interpersonal conflict within sport settings. It examines reasons for disagreements as well as characteristics and outcomes of interpersonal conflict within sport relationships (e.g., within teams, between coaches and athletes).

Why is it important?

The paper provides a definition and theoretical framework of interpersonal conflict in sports which is expected to path the way for future systematic investigations.

Perspectives

While conflict is a reoccurring theme within the sports literature, there is only little research focusing on the processes and determinants of interpersonal conflict itself. I hope this paper can encourage other researchers to pick up this important topic.
