What is it about?

This paper examines the findings in the popular press to find out the making of the new woman conceptualization in Ottoman Empire and Turkey. From 1890 to 1930, many printed publications were taken under consideration.

Why is it important?

I showed the gender roles of the changing society not as a natural process but within a constructed social sphere. Findings from printed publication help me to present my arguement.

I hope this atricle contributes to the field of the ciritical feminist studies and history of social space studies.
