Why is it important?

This is the first study to focus on literary ties between Palestine and Latin America and examine Chilean author Lina Meruane's memoir Becoming Palestine as well as Nathalie Handal's most recent bilingual edition of poetry, La Estrella Invisible.

Perspectives

I hope this article brings to light some of the understudied connections between Palestine and Latin America and contributes further comparative models to the study of world literature. It was a great pleasure to write about a new and unknown Palestine-themed Spanish memoir in English and to write about a Chilean author and Arab poet with whom my conversations have been fruitful.
