What is it about?

ZnFe2O4 nanoparticles were synthesized and used as recyclable magnetic catalyst in the solvent-free conversion of different epoxides to vicinal hydroxythiocyanates with NH4SCN at room temperature.

Why is it important?

ZnFe2O4 is an efficient magnetic nanocatalyst because it has large surface and catalytic activity, and also it is magnetically recoverable and reusable for next runs without any loss of activity. On the other hand, vicinal hydroxythiocyanates are a magnificent class of organic intermediates for synthesis of drugs and chemical compounds.

Perspectives

As an author, I hope reading this article helps the chemists and methodologists to recover the beneficial characterizations of magnetic nano ferrites in organic synthesis.
