What is it about?

The paper is the end product of a wider research held in İzmir between 2010-2012. 416 villages is covered in the research and 6 book are prepared having 2200 pages to depict the condition of the recent rural settlements and architecture in the region.

Why is it important?

It is a detailed research on the recent conditions of İzmir with a wide range of examination. 152 houses is examined and 65 scaled drawings are produced in the research. Including the focus groups and detail interviews with the householders, the research is reflecting the socio-spatiality of the rural environment of İzmir. This particular paper consists of the construction and material chapter of this wide research held in İzmir.
