What is it about?

This paper analyzes the future of electric vehicle in Brazil by stakeholders’ perspective. It was conducted a survey with around 629 Brazilians’ stakeholders from public, private and third sectors. The socio-techno-economic and political-environmental-innovation variables were explored in the survey. A SWOT analysis was performed to understand the most critical factors affecting the future of EVs in Brazil.

Why is it important?

This article clarifies for the Brazils' stakeholders, the risks and the opportunities of the expansion of the electric vehicle in the country leader in the production of sugar cane ethanol for transport sector.

Perspectives

This study helps to identify what technology is best for Brazil road transportation: electric vehicle or ethanol vehicle. It points out which segment of the economy should benefit most from the expansion of electric vehicles in the country. In addition, the results guide the likely marked share of the electric vehicle in 2030. Finally, the ideal characteristics for the Brazilian electric car were highlighted.
